"Every Marine a rifleman"

At MCT, every Marine is trained as an infantry rifleman. I arrived at MCT in early November after my 17 days of leave and recruiter's assistance at home. I was fortunate to have arrived when I did, because I was able to begin training right away. Some others were assigned to various other duties like Camp Guard for weeks before they could begin their training and be on their way again. I was anxious about the new training since I was just out of boot camp, and still didnt really know what to expect and what would be expected from me. The weather was nice when I first arrived and the entire experience would have been much more pleasant if it would have held up, but it got quite cold just before we set off into the field for our training. Looking back though it wasnt really so bad and the unpleasantness of it really served to make it more of what it should be, because combat isnt only limited to nice warm sunny days. Some of the instruction received was on fighting holes, weapons, mines, patrolling, and hand to hand combat. After I was done with my combat training, I was flown out to California to receive training specific to my particular job.
